CORONAVIRUS

Demand side:

There have been no specific requests through our service so far. However some volunteers have indicated that they are already giving support to persons self-isolating through their existing neighbourhood friendships. These trusted relationships should take priority but it is useful to have a record of them in case others ask, How about so and so?'

A large proportion of us volunteers are already in self-isolation which will affect the nature of support that we can give.

Supply side:

We have had some important and generous offers which we may well need to draw upon, some of which we can publicise.

Ø  Rock House Farm. Tom Peach hopes ‘To provide a hub for the village for essential items such as milk and bread as well as our usual produce. We also have plenty of fridge and freezer space in the shop should this be required by anybody in the village. We feel that with a few extra safety procedures we can make the shop as low risk as possible. We can also deliver any pork, lamb, sausages, bacon, eggs, jams and chutneys to the door and if there is anything that we can do to assist anybody then please do not hesitate to contact us on 07931 452147.’

Ø  Dave Heron, (01677 450535 & 07754 225033 & email dave1heron@hotmail.com who lives on Sinks Lane, runs a greengrocers and bakery in Masham. He is willing to offer free delivery to the village, also of meat as his shop is next door to Roger's butchers (01765-689459) who have ready prepared dishes.

Ø  Bedale Community Bakery state: 'During these uncertain times, we will be offering a free local delivery service to those in self-isolation or struggling to get supplies Deliveries will be made on Tuesdays and Saturdays but we will respond to demand where possible. All dishes can be gluten-free and if you have any dietary needs, they can accommodate this too - just let them know upon ordering.

Please note that for Glebe House Surgery requests for repeat prescriptions should be put in the box inside the door (not taken to the counter), or otherwise by phone. However, they can no longer be collected from the surgery, so it is important to register with a pharmacy from which to collect. Other surgeries will have different arrangements.
