Climate Change Group
a glimpse of some future events:
· Village Walk and Picnic - on Saturday, 27 June,
explore our village, verges and views. We’ll meet at the
village hall at
11.30am. Bring your own picnic and be prepared to walk around 3 miles. Everyone
welcome
– children to be accompanied.
· Repair Café – a free, community event, where
volunteers help neighbours to fix broken household items,
to avoid throwing
things away - keep an eye out for further details.
· Renewable Energy Event – a gathering to bring
together professionals and locals to showcase and
discuss clean energy
technologies like solar and green electricity. Villagers will be relating their
own
experiences of such installations and answering questions – to take place
later in the year.
· Apple Day – our annual autumn event when we press
locally grown apples to make delicious apple juice.
Save the date: 2pm on
Sunday, 11 October. Join us for free hot drinks and tasty apple cakes.
· Woodland maintenance – lend a hand in the autumn /
winter to help keep our local woodland a
sanctuary for wildlife. Look out for
further details in future newsletters.
· Bulb Planting Ideas - the Climate Change Group are
hoping to plant more bulbs in and around the
village later in the year. We
would like ideas please! What to plant… Where to plant…
and offers of your
‘spare’ bulbs would be much appreciated. Please contact Bob
Sampson on 07592 019664 with your
thoughts.
· Village Calendar – our 2027 calendar theme is
‘village life’. We’ll make a call for photos (old and new)
that reflect life in
Newton le Willows later in the year. Please check the people in your pics
consent to
appearing in the calendar.
All the above activities are open
to everyone in the village. If you are interested in joining the group our
next
meeting is at 7.30pm on 16 June at the village hall – pop along if you can.
CLIMATE CHANGE GROUP
Our next meeting is our AGM where we will review the past year’s activities and plan for the year ahead.
Feel free to turn up at the village hall at 7.30 pm on Tuesday, 21st April 2026 or give Bob a ring to find
Thermal Imaging Camera
A Thermal Imaging Camera is available for loan to anyone in the village for a nominal (and returnable)
deposit of £10 and can be kept for up to 48 hours. The camera can help identify and pinpoint any cold
spots in the home.
If you are interested in borrowing the camera to scan your home, inside or out, or would like
more information, please contact Jean 01677 450895 or any member of the Climate Change Group.

Recycling News
Unfortunately, blister packs can’t go in our home recycling collection but they can still be recycled. They
can be left at Glebe House Surgery in Bedale when the appropriate recycling bin is available. Boots at
Catterick Garrison also offer the service but you may need to book a drop off with them.
Paul Rutter Opticians in Bedale are offering a collection box for contact lenses for recycling.
