NEWTON NEWS

Do you value Newton News? Could you give us a few hours of your time 2 or 3 times a year? We are
looking for someone who could help with editing and printing of some editions of Newton News.

Editing can be done at home using Microsoft Word or Pages. The printer is provided by and is located
in the Village Hall; printing takes a couple of hours. We organise it so that you won’t be asked to edit
   and print the same edition.

Please contact Sally on 07729 447721 (sallyjanebright@hotmail.com) for a chat if you think you might
   be able to help.

GO GREEN!

Do you need a printed copy of Newton News? To help reduce printing costs and for a ‘greener’ way to
receive your copy, please let us know if you would be happy to receive an e-copy of the Newsletter.
Just contact one of the editing team.

Advertising in Newton News

Do you have a local business? It costs only £5 for a half page advertisement in the Newton
Newsletter or £2.50 for a small ad. Contact one of the editors for further information.

   A warm welcome to:

Kathryn & Kieran who have moved into The Old Chapel.

John who has moved into Grassington.

Village Hall Car Park

Following recent events, a query has been raised regarding the car park and surrounding area at
the rear of the Village Hall. The Village Hall Committee have provided the following clarification:

Deeds dated 16 September 1935 show that the area surrounding the current building was
conveyed to the newly-established Trustees of the Village Hall ‘to be held in trust for the purposes
of physical and mental recreation … as may be found expedient’.

The children’s playground and the recycling point are both on Village Hall land, as is the Quoits
   pitch.

Occasionally, we have to indicate that parking is only for those attending the Village Hall. Car
parking is part of what hirers of the Hall book.

   So, in clarification of the
status of the car park: it is in fact the Village Hall car park.

Social Media

We’re seeking to improve communication within the village and would
like to promote a shared Facebook page and WhatsApp group for
residents. These can be used to share information about events, ask
for advice, or offer items for reuse.

This should reduce the number of items being left in the bus shelter,
which is becoming cluttered when things are not collected. If you leave
something there and it isn’t taken, please return to collect it and dispose
of it appropriately. Please also avoid leaving unsuitable items, such as
perishable food. The bus shelter should not be used as a recycling point.

The Facebook page Newton le Willows (Yorkshire) Community
   Group
is administered by a resident. You will need to join the group by
asking to join. Once joined you can post your comments.

Our Blooming Newton WhatsApp group was primarily set up to provide
information about horticulture (including the sharing of plants, seeds
and produce) and the environment, especially in relation to our village.

Today, Blooming Newton has morphed into a general information and
   help group.

The primary administrator for the group is Bob Sampson. Contact Bob
   on 07592
019664 or 01677 450715 or
bobsampson17@gmail.com if
you would like to join this Whatsapp group.

Hopefully one of these social media platforms will be familiar to you and
you would be happy to use and share useful information to all residents.

The parish council is always looking for new ideas and welcomes any
feedback or comments. Please email the clerk at

newtonlewillows.pc@gmail.com.

   Many thanks.
