Village Hall News

A new single-key system operated via a wall-mounted safe key pad is now in operation for access to the village hall.

Regular users will be given the access code (which will be changed regularly), and can let themselves in and out. This makes managing the Hall easier both for users and Trustees.

If you are not a regular user, but need access to the Hall, please contact the Treasurer, David Peach.

Thank you to all those who came to help with the
spring clean in March. The contents of some of the kitchen cupboards has been rearranged; re-labelling is a work
in progress together with the compilation of an up-to-date inventory, so some things may not be where you expect.
There is now a yard broom to help keep the concrete area outside tidy, and you may be pleased to learn that the door into the Gents toilet can now be closed properly. Bookings for the Hall are being managed by the Treasurer, who has inherited Margaret Pay’s well-thought-out system.

Margaret and Steve Pay are leaving the village shortly to
be nearer their daughter. They are both active supporters of the Village Hall and both have served on the committee and come up with excellent ideas for its use.

Many of us have enjoyed Margaret’s pop-up cafes, and Crafternoon, dreamed up during Covid, has now been providing an opportunity to meet and chat for four years.

We are grateful for all that Margaret and Steve have done and wish them health and happiness in their new home.

Schedules for the Village Show are now available from the Village Hall and from the bus shelter when
the Hall is closed.

The western boundary wall of the site has been repaired, resulting in a pile of stones and other things to be cleared away. If you find something that interests you, you are welcome to take it.

Derek Stratton, the Trustee who has represented Patrick Brompton for several years, has announced
that he is retiring. Derek's very
helpful and well-informed contributions, and especially his knowledge of Health and Safety matters and procedures, will be missed. A successor will be announced in due course.
